Christina Ailes, LMFT
Marriage & Family, Geriatric Mental Health, First Responders, Severe Mental Illness, Suicidal Ideation
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years’ experience working with adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples in private psychotherapy, clinics, and hospitals in San Diego County. I have a further specialization in advanced geriatric mental health certification, first responders (law enforcement, fire, medics, etc.), and severe mental illness. Being married to a law enforcement officer myself, I understand the unique pressures that come with a career as a first responder- from shift work to “adrenaline drops”- and how it impacts the family. I am a graduate of University of San Diego with a Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from California State University, San Marcos.
In the last 10 years, I have also developed a further specialization in working with those who have suicidal ideations. Working with this population, my goal is to empower clients to find a way to stay safe while getting their emotional needs communicated and met, all while extinguishing self-harm. I served several years on the Board for the San Diego Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, including the position of President.
Therapy is a nonjudgmental and flexible environment that nurtures the needs and goals of each individual client. Within this framework, I strive to find the approach that matches you best and further utilize your strengths to obtain the goals we set together.
I am a solution focused, compassionate, and flexible therapist who works with you to create a plan to help you achieve your goals and improve relationships. I am currently accepting clients with Cigna and TriCare insurance, as well as offer tele-therapy based on client needs and am happy to discuss this further with you.
